On-site infrastructure
Business CCTV systems
CCTV that deters theft and vandalism, lets you check your premises from your phone in real time and keeps the footage you need when something happens, installed and supported by our own engineers.
Who it is for
Businesses in Teesside and the North East with a yard, a car park, a warehouse, a shop floor or a reception to watch: anywhere stock, vehicles, cash or people are at risk, where an insurer asks for coverage, or where a dispute about what happened needs footage rather than memory. Also any business whose cameras were fitted years ago and record to a box nobody has checked.
What you get
Cameras chosen and positioned from a survey for the entrances, areas and conditions of your site, recording round the clock to secure storage with a retention you set, live and recorded footage viewable securely from a phone or computer, and footage exported when an incident needs it. Installed on a separated network alongside your cabling and access control by Odyssey engineers, and supported by the same service desk.
The problem
Premises left unwatched invite theft and damage, and when something does happen, you need clear footage to act on it.
The camera over the yard was fitted when the business moved in. It points at where the skip used to be, the recorder in the cupboard stopped writing months ago, and the one time footage was needed, the number plate was a smear. Meanwhile the insurer's renewal form asks whether the premises are covered, and the question about the damaged van comes down to one person's word against another's.
A CCTV system worth having starts with a survey: what needs covering, from where, in what light, at what distance, and what the footage has to show, a face, a plate, a hand on a shelf. Cameras are chosen for the job and the conditions, recording runs round the clock to storage sized for the retention you need, and the footage is viewable securely from a phone, with export when the police or the insurer ask.
We install CCTV as part of the building's technology, by the same engineers who install the cabling, network and access control, so the cameras sit on a separated, secured network rather than the office Wi-Fi, the recorder is monitored, and the camera covering a door can be read alongside the door's own access record.

Not included, or sold separately
- Monitoring by a person
- The system records and alerts; a staffed monitoring centre that watches live and calls the police is a separate contract where you want one
- Your data protection obligations
- CCTV that records people is personal data; we set retention, access and signage to the policy you decide, and your data protection adviser confirms it
- Intruder alarms
- An alarm system and its monitoring are a separate contract, and we coordinate with the alarm company
- Power and containment
- Cabling is ours; power to a camera position and containment in a yard are specified in the survey and done by your electrician or fit-out contractor
- Analysis beyond the recorder
- Number plate recognition and people counting are options on some platforms, priced separately where you want them

Questions people ask
Can we view the cameras remotely?
Yes. Live and recorded footage can be viewed securely from a phone or computer by the people you authorise, with access limited to them.
How long is footage kept?
That depends on the storage fitted and your requirements. We set retention to suit your premises and obligations, typically long enough for an incident to come to light, and your data protection adviser confirms it.
Do the cameras record all the time?
Yes. Recording runs round the clock, and your team can check live or recorded footage remotely whenever they need to. Motion-triggered recording can be used where it suits the storage.
Will the footage be good enough to use?
That is what the survey is for. Each camera is chosen and positioned for what it must show, a face at the door, a plate at the gate, a hand on a shelf, in the light it will actually see, and tested by day and by night before handover.
How do you decide where the cameras go?
We look at your premises and choose and position cameras to cover the entrances and areas you need to protect, at the distances and in the lighting they will face, rather than where the ceiling is convenient.
Can we export footage for the police or our insurer?
Yes. Footage is retrieved and exported on request, and the people you nominate can be trained to do it themselves.
Does CCTV work with our access control?
Yes. Both are installed by the same engineers on the same separated network, so the camera covering a door and the door's own access record can be read together after an incident.
Who installs and supports the cameras?
Odyssey's own engineers, never subcontracted. The same team that fits your CCTV supports it afterwards and installs the cabling, network and access control alongside it.
