Voice and video services
Most businesses start with hosted voice or Microsoft Teams calling. Choose Mitel MiVoice if you want a system you own, and add contact centre, call recording and reporting as you need them.
-
Hosted voice and SIP
A business phone system that lives in the cloud instead of a cabinet in the office: your numbers, auto-attendants and call routing run by Odyssey, ringing on desk phones, laptops and mobiles.
-
Microsoft Teams
Business calls inside Microsoft Teams, on the numbers your customers know, next to the chat, meetings and files your staff already use, set up and supported by the team that manages your Microsoft 365.
-
Mitel MiVoice Business
A phone system you own, hosted by us or installed on your site, with the call routing, presence and resilience a busy team needs, supported by Mitel engineers who work for Odyssey.
-
Contact centre and CTI
Contact centre tools and computer telephony integration, so every agent sees who is calling and their history before they answer, calls queue to the right team, and team leaders can see what is happening.
-
Call reporting and recording
Call recording and reporting that show how your phones are really used, keep an encrypted record of what was said, and give managers the numbers on missed calls, answer times and busy periods.
-
Telephone lines and numbers
The numbers your customers call and the lines behind them: local, 03 and 0800 numbers, porting from any provider, and every ISDN and analogue line moved to a digital service before the switch-off.
-
Mobile phones and SIM cards
Mobile phones and SIM plans for your team, chosen around how they actually use them, with the devices set up, enrolled in management and supported by the team that already looks after your phones and IT.
To see what still runs on the old phone network, take the PSTN switch-off check: ten questions, and a list of what has to move before the switch-off.
Choosing voice and video services
Who this line is for
Businesses across Teesside and the North East whose phone lines stop working when the PSTN and ISDN are switched off on 31 January 2027, whose phone system is tied to a cabinet and a desk while staff work everywhere, or whose customer team has outgrown the way calls reach it. From a single office to a port group with many sites.
What you get
A phone system matched to how your business answers the phone: hosted voice or Microsoft Teams calling for most, Mitel MiVoice Business where you want a system you own or the call handling a contact centre needs, with your numbers ported, every extension on desk phones, laptops and mobiles, and call recording and reporting where you need them. Installed, changed and supported by our own engineers, who answer within three rings.
Start with the lines. Anything still on analogue or ISDN, including the alarm, the lift and the card terminal, has to move to a digital service before 31 January 2027, and no new analogue line can be ordered now. Telephone lines and numbers covers the audit, the porting and the replacement of every line; everything else on this page runs over the connection that replaces them.
Then choose the system. Hosted voice and SIP (Odyssey Voice) is a phone system we run in the cloud, with auto-attendants, hunt groups and apps, or SIP trunks for a system you already own. Microsoft Teams calling puts business numbers inside Teams through Direct Routing, and Teams Connect lets Teams users and Odyssey extensions call each other, so a business need not move everyone to one or the other. Mitel MiVoice Business is the system we install, hosted or on site, where a business wants to own it or needs the routing, presence and resilience of a platform that several of our clients have run for twenty years and more.
Add what the team needs. Contact centre and CTI brings the customer's record up as the call arrives and routes calls to the right agent, with Mitel MiContact Center or a contact centre inside Microsoft Teams. Call reporting and recording shows missed calls, answer times and busy periods, and keeps an encrypted record for disputes and compliance. We also supply desk telephones and business mobiles. Calls need capacity to spare on the connection, so we check your line and recommend broadband, a leased line or a 4G or 5G backup where the phones would otherwise be the first thing to suffer.

Questions people ask
Hosted voice, Microsoft Teams or Mitel, which should we choose?
Hosted voice suits a business that wants flexibility without equipment to maintain. Teams calling suits a team that already works in Teams all day. Mitel MiVoice Business suits a business that wants to own its system or needs the call handling of a contact centre. Many features are available on all three, and Teams Connect lets Teams and Odyssey extensions work together.
Will we keep our phone numbers?
Yes. Existing numbers are ported from most providers to whichever system you choose, so customers keep calling the numbers they know. We audit every line and number first so none is missed, including alarm and lift lines.
What happens on 31 January 2027?
BT and Openreach retire the PSTN and ISDN, so any line still on them stops working, and no new analogue line can be ordered now. Every line, and everything that runs over one, needs a digital replacement before the date.
Can staff take calls from home and on the road?
Yes. On every system we install, the same extension rings on a desk phone, a softphone on a laptop and a mobile app, and outgoing calls show the business number rather than a personal mobile.
Will our internet connection cope with calls?
It may need upgrading so it has capacity for calls as well as everything else. We check what your address can get and recommend business broadband or a leased line, with a 4G or 5G backup so the phones keep ringing if the line fails.
Who installs and supports the system?
Odyssey's own engineers, never subcontractors, from our offices in Stockton-on-Tees. The team that installs your phones is the team that answers within three rings when you call about them.
Can you connect our phone system to the other systems we use?
Yes. Contact centre and CTI links calls to your CRM or service system, so the caller's record is on screen when the phone rings. Custom AI and Integrations goes further, connecting AI to the systems your team works in, with a person approving anything that matters. We built the integration between our own phone system and our service desk first.
Can you show us a business like ours that you have done this for?
Yes. Our client stories include a 26-store retailer, a port group, a quarry, a demolition contractor, a food wholesaler and a construction group, each with the system installed and the result, and several have been clients for twenty years or more.
Challenges this helps with
We support organisations in Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Hartlepool, Darlington, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough, from our service desk at Preston Farm.
