Office moves and new sites
One team for the whole move: connectivity, cabling, Wi-Fi, phones, door entry, CCTV and the IT cutover, planned back from the move date and delivered by our own engineers.
Who it is for
Businesses in Teesside and the North East moving office, opening a site, or fitting out a new building, whose lease is signed or about to be and whose date is fixed. Also businesses consolidating two sites into one, and clients on a retainer whose move needs a project manager.
What you get
The new building connected, cabled and working on the first morning, the old site working until the last evening, every number ringing where it should, and one team accountable for all of it.
The problem
A move is a deadline with a building attached, and the item with the longest lead time is usually the last one ordered.
The connectivity is invisible until it is missing, so it is ordered late. The result is a week or a month of staff working from phones in an empty building, a temporary line that becomes permanent, cabling run after the furniture went in, and the old number ringing at the old site because nobody checked whether it could move. Every one of those is avoidable with the right order of works.
We plan the move from the date backwards. The connectivity is ordered as soon as the date is known, with 4G or 5G as the stopgap if the carrier is late. The building is surveyed and designed, then cabled and fitted before the furniture. Phones, door entry and CCTV go on a properly separated network, the numbers port last, and the old site is ceased only when the new one is proven.
The parts depend on each other, so one owner runs them all: the cabling follows the design, the phones need the connection, and the cutover needs both. Odyssey runs its own network and does every part with its own engineers, so nothing waits on another supplier.
What Odyssey provides
- A move plan built back from your date, with the connectivity ordered first
- A survey and network design for the new building, with the fit-out contractor's requirements
- Connectivity installed before the move, with 4G or 5G as the stopgap and the backup
- Structured cabling, Wi-Fi, switching, door entry and CCTV installed by our own engineers
- Numbers ported and routed so customers notice nothing
- The IT cut over, and the old site ceased only when the new one is proven
What is included
| Included | Detail |
|---|---|
| Planning | The move date, the order of works and the lead times on one page, agreed with you and your fit-out contractor |
| Survey and design | The new building walked, a documented network design and equipment list, and the containment and power requirements for your contractor |
| Connectivity | What the address can get checked and ordered immediately, with a 4G or 5G router as the stopgap |
| Installation | Structured cabling, Wi-Fi, switching, door entry and CCTV by our own engineers |
| Telephony | Numbers ported, call routing set up, and desk phones or apps ready for the first morning |
| Cutover | Servers, printers and devices moved and re-joined to the network, with engineers on site the first morning |
| Old site | Lines and numbers ceased only once the new site is proven, and the cabling and equipment stripped out if you ask, quoted as part of the move |
Not included, or sold separately
- Building works
- Power and the comms room are your fit-out contractor's, to our specification; containment is installed by our engineers or specified for your contractor, depending on the job
- Removals
- Furniture and the physical move of desks and boxes are your removal company's

- Quoted as their own services, so the project price covers the work
- Shared building infrastructure
- Risers and shared comms rooms belong to the landlord
How it is delivered
-
Fix the date and count back
The move date sets everything. We write the order of works on one page: connectivity first, design before the fit-out, cabling before the furniture, numbers last.
-
Order the connectivity
What the address can get, checked and ordered as soon as the date is known: broadband, a leased line or ethernet, with 4G or 5G ready as the stopgap and kept as the backup.
-
Survey, design and fit
The building walked with you, the design and equipment list produced, the contractor briefed, then cabling, Wi-Fi, switching, door entry and CCTV installed before the furniture arrives.
-
Port and cut over
The numbers ported and routed, the phones and devices ready, and the IT moved across, with engineers on site on the first morning.
-
Prove it, then cease the old site
Everything tested at the new site before the old lines and numbers are ceased, so nothing is cancelled that is still needed.

Questions people ask
When should we involve you in a move?
As soon as the date is known, and before the lease is signed if you can. Connectivity to a new building is the longest item on the list, and the cabling has to go in before the furniture.
What if the connectivity is not ready on the day?
A 4G or 5G router keeps the site working until the fixed line is live, and stays as the backup afterwards.
Can we keep our phone numbers?
Almost always. We check every number in the survey and tell you before the move if one cannot come with you.
Do you do the whole move or just the IT?
All the technology in the move, end to end, with one owner: connectivity, cabling, Wi-Fi, phones, door entry, CCTV and the IT cutover. The furniture and the boxes are your removal company's.
How is a move priced?
As a fixed price agreed after a survey and before we start, like our other professional services. A small move of a few desks can be done on a day rate. Equipment and connectivity are quoted as their own services.
We are not an Odyssey client. Can you still do our move?
Yes. Any business can buy a move from us. Many go on to a retainer or a connectivity contract afterwards, but a move does not commit you to either.
