Desk telephones

The handsets on your desks, in your warehouse and in your meeting rooms, matched to your phone system, configured before they arrive and supported by the team that runs your calls.

Who it is for

Businesses in Teesside and the North East moving to hosted voice, Mitel or Microsoft Teams calling and deciding who still needs a physical phone: reception, the sales floor, the warehouse, the workshop, the boardroom. Also any business adding desks, replacing worn handsets or wanting a conference phone that people will actually use.

What you get

The right handset for each role, from a Mitel desk phone or a Teams-certified handset to a cordless phone for the warehouse, a wired or wireless headset for the people on the phone all day, and a conference phone for the meeting room, each configured for your phone system with its user and extension before it reaches you, and supported, replaced and added to by the same service desk that answers your calls within three rings.

The problem

Desk phones are still the easiest way for many teams to handle calls, but they need to be the right model for your system and set up properly.

A softphone on a laptop suits a lot of people. It does not suit reception, where a call has to be answered while the laptop is locked; the warehouse, where nobody is at a desk; the workshop, where a phone has to survive; or the boardroom, where six people need to hear and be heard. Nor does it suit the member of staff who simply wants a handset, and a phone system move that takes it away loses goodwill it did not need to lose.

The handset also has to match the system. A Mitel desk phone, a Teams-certified handset and a generic IP phone for hosted voice are different devices with different features, and a phone bought online and plugged in is the usual cause of a day lost to provisioning. Charles Clinkard's refresh across 26 stores and head office upgraded more than 165 handsets, each location briefed in advance; Country Valley Foods' 36,000 square feet of food storage got water-resistant cordless handsets with the range to cover the site.

Our handsets arrive configured for your system, with the user and extension already set, so a new starter plugs in and the phone works, and the team that configured it is the team you ring when it does not.

How it is delivered

  1. Review the roles

Who answers calls where, who is on the phone all day, where a cordless or a rugged handset is needed and which rooms need a conference phone. The softphone covers everyone else.

  2. Choose the handsets

Models matched to your phone system and to each role, with headsets and accessories, priced per handset or as part of the phone system's monthly charge.

  3. Configure

Each phone set up with its user, extension and features before it leaves us, so there is no provisioning on the day.

  4. Install or ship

Installed on desks and in rooms by our engineers as part of a phone system rollout, with each location briefed in advance, or shipped ready to plug in for a new starter or a replacement.

  5. Support

A fault, a replacement or a new starter is a call to the service desk, answered within three rings, with the replacement configured before it is sent.

Questions people ask

Do desk phones work with hosted voice?

Yes. Desk phones work with Odyssey Voice, Mitel systems and Microsoft Teams, with Teams-certified handsets for Teams, and each is configured for the system before it reaches you.

Can we mix desk phones and softphones?

Yes. Staff can have a desk phone, a softphone on their computer or mobile, or both ringing on the same extension, so reception keeps a handset and the sales team uses the app.

Which desk phones do you supply?

Handsets matched to your phone system, including Mitel desk phones and Teams-certified handsets for Microsoft Teams, plus cordless and rugged handsets, headsets and conference phones. Odyssey is a Mitel partner.

Do the phones arrive ready to use?

Yes. Each handset is configured with its user, extension and features for your phone system before it reaches you, so a new starter plugs it in and it works.

Can you cover a warehouse or a yard?

Yes. Cordless handsets with the range to cover the site, with base stations positioned from a survey, as Country Valley Foods has across 36,000 square feet of food storage.

Can you supply more handsets as we grow?

Yes. We supply replacements and additional handsets as your team changes, configured and supported by the team that runs your calls, usually without a site visit.

What about headsets and conference phones?

Wired and wireless headsets for the people on the phone all day, and conference phones for meeting rooms, are supplied and configured alongside the desk phones for the same system.

Who supports the phones?

Odyssey's own service desk in Stockton-on-Tees, the team that runs your phone system, answered within three rings. A faulty handset is replaced with one that is configured before it is sent.
