Connectivity services
Start with broadband if you need a reliable connection for a single office; choose a leased line when the connection is business-critical, and a private WAN when you have more than one site.
-
Business broadband
Business broadband without a phone line, from SoADSL and SoGEA to full fibre FTTP, checked for your address, supplied with a managed router and supported from Stockton-on-Tees.
-
Leased lines and direct internet access
A dedicated internet connection for your business alone: the bandwidth you buy is the bandwidth you get, up and down, at any time of day, with a contracted fix time if it fails.
-
Ethernet and microwave
Fast, dedicated ethernet circuits between your sites or to the internet, and point-to-point microwave links from our own network for buildings where laying cable is impractical or too slow.
-
Mobile 4G and 5G data
Mobile data for staff on the move, 5G fixed wireless for sites that need a connection quickly, and a backup router that takes over automatically when a fixed line goes down.
-
MPLS private WAN
Your sites joined on one private network, separate from the public internet, with priority for calls and the applications that matter, designed and managed by our own engineers on our own core network.
Choosing connectivity services
Who this line is for
Businesses in Teesside, Tees Valley and the wider North East that want their internet from a provider rather than a reseller: a single office that needs a dependable line, a site where the connection cannot be allowed to fail, a building where cable cannot reach, or a group of sites that should work as one network.
What you get
The right connection for each site, delivered over a business-only core network that Odyssey owns and runs, with our own engineers surveying, installing and supporting it from Stockton-on-Tees. One provider end to end, so when a line fails there is nobody else to blame and the people who answer the phone are the people who can fix it.
Five products cover almost every site. Business broadband (SoADSL, SoGEA and full fibre FTTP) is the dependable choice for a single office where a few hours offline would be an inconvenience rather than a crisis; it needs no phone line, and we check what your address can get before you commit. A leased line, which we call direct internet access, is for the site that cannot be offline: dedicated, the same speed both ways, up to 10 Gbps, with a contracted fix time. Ethernet and point-to-point microwave join buildings you own, or reach a site where laying cable is impractical or too slow; our microwave network is run from Preston Farm. 4G and 5G data serves staff on the move, stands in as fixed wireless where coverage is good, and keeps an office online as a backup when the fixed line fails. An MPLS private WAN, or SD-WAN alongside it, keeps traffic between several sites off the public internet with calls prioritised.
Providers differ most in where the traffic goes after it leaves your building. Odyssey runs its own autonomous system, AS204558, with our own IP addresses and routes announced from equipment we own in Telehouse North Two in London Docklands and Equinix MA3 in Manchester, peering at the London Internet Exchange in both cities, Colt and Cogent for transit, and BT 21CN interconnects for broadband. The network is built on Juniper and Extreme Networks equipment, carries business traffic only, and is run by the engineers in the same office as the service desk.
Many businesses end up with a mix: broadband at the branch, a leased line at head office, a 4G backup at both, and a private WAN between them. We size each site for what it does today with room to grow, and we will say so when full fibre broadband with a backup would serve you as well as a leased line for less.

Questions people ask
Are you an internet service provider or a reseller?
A provider. Odyssey runs its own autonomous system, AS204558, with our own IP addresses and routes announced to the internet from equipment we own in London Docklands and Manchester, peering at LINX in both cities. Many providers resell a large national supplier; we do not.
Broadband or a leased line, which do we need?
Broadband, including full fibre FTTP, suits an office where a few hours offline would be an inconvenience. A leased line suits a site that cannot be offline: it is dedicated, the same speed both ways and covered by a contracted fix time. The useful sum is what an hour without internet costs you, and we will do it with you.
What can our address get?
Availability varies street by street, so we check what can be delivered to your address, by which carriers and over which route, before anything is ordered, and recommend the option that fits what the site does.
What happens when a line fails?
You call us and a person answers within three rings. We raise the fault with the carrier and manage it to repair, and for a site that cannot be offline we recommend a 4G or 5G backup that takes over automatically while the fault is fixed.
Can you connect a site where cable cannot reach?
Yes. A point-to-point microwave link joins two points with a clear line of sight without laying cable, and 5G fixed wireless is an alternative where mobile coverage is good. Our microwave network is run from our Preston Farm offices in Stockton-on-Tees.
Can you join our sites on one private network?
Yes. An MPLS private WAN, SD-WAN or both keeps traffic between your sites off the public internet with calls and business-critical applications prioritised, managed centrally by our engineers, and new sites join the same network as you grow.
Do you also supply the phones and IT that run on the connection?
Yes. Connectivity, telephony, managed IT and security come from one owner-managed provider, so a fault is never a question of whose it is.
