IT and telecoms for schools and academy trusts
Academy trusts run many sites on one budget. Telephony, connectivity and Microsoft 365 that work the same in every school, supported by people who answer the phone.
What the sector needs, and what we delivered
Every need below is something Odyssey delivered for a named client.
-
One telephone system across every school
Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, with 35 schools across the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, runs Mitel telephony and SIP trunks from Odyssey under one maintenance agreement with a telecoms retainer behind it.
-
Connectivity sized for a trust
The Legacy Learning Trust, eight schools and more than 5,000 pupils in Middlesbrough, takes ethernet fibre and hosted services from Odyssey, with voice on the same contract.
-
A long relationship
Nunthorpe School & Sixth Form in Middlesbrough (formerly Nunthorpe Academy) has bought from Odyssey since 2006: hosted voice, broadband, mobiles and hardware care.
-
Single schools as well as trusts
Polam Hall School in Darlington moved to Odyssey in 2023 for Mitel telephony, SIP trunks and hosted services.
-
Early years as well
Nunthorpe Nurseries, nine children's day nurseries across the Tees Valley since 1989, runs its networking, hosted voice and broadband on Odyssey.
-
Term-time change
Installations and upgrades are planned around the school calendar, so switchovers happen in the holidays and the office is never without a line on the first day of term.
The services behind it
Who we work with in this sector
Questions people ask
Can every school in our trust be on one phone system?
Yes. Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, with 35 schools, runs Mitel telephony and SIP trunks from Odyssey under one maintenance agreement.
When do you carry out installations?
Around the school calendar. Switchovers happen in the holidays, so the office is never without a line on the first day of term.
Do you work with single schools and nurseries as well as trusts?
Yes. We support single schools such as Polam Hall School in Darlington, and Nunthorpe Nurseries' day nurseries across the Tees Valley, as well as academy trusts.
Our school still has analogue or ISDN lines. What do we need to do?
Move them before BT and Openreach retire the PSTN and ISDN on 31 January 2027. Hosted voice, SIP or Microsoft Teams replaces them, and existing numbers are ported so parents keep calling the numbers they know.
Can you look after Microsoft 365 for staff?
Yes. As a Microsoft Partner we supply licences, make sure each user has the right one, and set up and support email and Office applications.
