Desktops and laptops

Computers for your team, chosen for each role, built to one standard, enrolled in management and protected before they reach the desk, and replaced or added to by the team that supports them.

Who it is for

Businesses in Teesside and the North East buying computers one at a time, from whichever shop had stock that week, and living with the result: a mix of models, set-ups and security levels, a new starter waiting for a laptop, and nobody sure which machines are still on Windows 10. Also any business whose managed IT retainer should cover the hardware as well as the people.

What you get

A standard build per role, with the right laptop or desktop for the job, supplied built to that image, enrolled in Microsoft Intune, protected with Microsoft Defender and Huntress detection and response, and delivered ready to sign in. Joiners get a machine before day one, replacements arrive configured, and every device sits under the same management as the rest of the estate from the moment it is unboxed.

The problem

Buying computers one at a time leaves you with a mix of models, set-ups and security levels that is hard to manage and harder to secure.

The laptop bought for the new starter on Monday has a consumer Windows licence, the manufacturer's trial antivirus and no encryption. The one bought last year is a different model with a different dock. The finance manager's machine is five years old and still on Windows 10, which stopped receiving security updates in October 2025. Nobody can say what the estate is, so nobody can say what it costs or what is at risk.

With a standard build, each role gets a specified machine, built to one image with the applications, policies and protection the business has decided on, enrolled in Intune before it leaves us, so it reaches the desk ready to sign in and already under management. Replacements are the same build, so a failure is a swap rather than a project.

Thomas Armstrong's year-long rebuild and Prestons of Potto's move to Windows 11 both began with the hardware: machines replaced on a plan, built to a standard, enrolled on the way in.

How it is delivered

  1. Agree the standard

Which roles need which machine, what goes on the image for each, and the accessories. One decision per role, so every joiner after it is a routine ticket.

  2. Build the image

The applications, policies, encryption and protection the business has decided on, built once and applied to every device, with Intune enrolment so the device is under management before it leaves us.

  3. Supply and build

Devices sourced to the standard, built to the image, labelled and added to the inventory.

  4. Deliver and hand over

Shipped ready to sign in, to the office or a home address, or installed on the desk by our engineers during a project, with the old device collected and wiped where there is one.

  5. Replace on a plan

The inventory shows what is ageing and out of support, so replacements go into the budget in waves rather than arriving as emergencies, and a failed device is swapped for the same build.

Questions people ask

Do new devices come ready to use?

Yes. They are built to your standard image, enrolled in Intune and protected before they reach your staff, so a new starter signs in and works, in the office or at home.

Can you supply laptops as well as desktops?

Yes. Laptops, desktops and rugged machines for the yard or the workshop, each specified for the role, with the monitors, docks and accessories that go with it.

Why buy all our computers through one provider?

Buying computers one at a time leaves a mix of models, set-ups and security levels that is hard to manage. Supplying and building them together keeps every device to the same standard, and a replacement is a straight swap.

We still have Windows 10 machines. Can you replace them?

Yes. Windows 10 stopped receiving security updates in October 2025. We identify the machines that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 and replace them in waves on a plan, built to the standard and enrolled on the way in.

Who looks after the devices once they are in use?

Odyssey's own team, never subcontracted. Managed IT or co-managed IT keeps the devices patched, monitored and supported from your retainer; this service supplies, builds and replaces them.

What happens when a device fails?

It is swapped for one of the same build, with the user's data restored from backup or the cloud, and the failed device wiped and sent for repair under warranty or retired.

Do you supply machines for home workers?

Yes. The device is built and enrolled here and shipped to the home address ready to sign in, with the same build as the office machines.
